Farmer Online Courses

The Northeast Beginning Farmer Project provides 6-week instructor-led online courses to people with 0-15 years of farming experience. Courses are primarily taught by Cooperative Extension educators, and almost always include presentations by successful farmers or other farm professionals. We offer production courses suitable for beginners or experienced farmers adding a new enterprise, with topics including mushrooms, berries, vegetables, grains, and poultry. We also offer farm business management courses from Quickbooks to writing a business plan. View a listing of all farmer online courses here.

More than 90% of farms in NY and nationally fit the definition of a "small farm," i.e. any farm earning <$250K in gross revenue in a year. The Cornell Small Farms Program provides information resources, events, and referrals to new and existing small farmers.
